The Dancesport Team

The Dancesport Team is the competitive branch of the Latin and Ballroom section of the society. The team is affiliated with the Inter Varsity Dancesport Association, enabling us to compete in a series of competitions on the University Dancesport Circuit, as well as hosting our own. Competitions take place across the country from Warwick to Durham to the highlight of the year the Inter Varsity Dance Competition (IVDC), held annually at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, home to the largest sprung dance floor in the whole of Europe.

Nottingham University Dancesport Team is very active, competing in 8 events in the 09/10 year and has been very successful, finishing 5th out of a total 33 competing universities at IVDC 2010. Members of the Dancesport Team attend weekly lessons with our excellent coach, Jackie, and weekly practices organised by the team captains.

Asides from being competitive however the Dancesport Team is also a great way to get to know members of the society, improve your dancing and visit a whole variety of different universities, cities and dance halls throughout England. The Inter Varsity Dance Competition in Blackpool involves a two night stay at the beach resort and is always great fun and a great way to get to know other members.

The team is open to anyone from beginners to the most experienced dancers. If you would like more information feel free to speak to any of the committee members at dance lessons or practices, ask on the forum or email us: dancesport.team@lbss.org.uk

Details of upcoming competitions, practices and lessons can all be found on our calendar.
