Is there an audition? Do I need any experience?
There is no audition process, just turn up to the first meeting! We welcome everyone and anyone of any ability, male or female, from any dance background and even those with no dance experience. Offbeat is all about having fun and we aim to put together routines that anyone can pick up with some practice. All we ask is a once a week commitment and that you are available for the two Offbeat competitions. Do I need to be in the Dancesport Team to take part? You do not need to be a part of the Dancesport team in order to join Offbeat and as it is a group dance you do not need a partner. How much time will I need to commit? Rehearsals begin later in Semester 1. It takes effort to put a group dance together, so in order to be ready for the competitions in Semester 2, you will need to commit to at least one practice session a week. The Semester 2 practices begin immediately after the January exams. As we get closer to the competitions in February, there will some additional rehearsals as part of the Team Practices which will be announced on the Offbeat Facebook group. To get the full benefit of becoming familiar with the routine and performing confidently with other team members, you should attend as many as you can. You will need to be available for (either or both) NUDC held on the third weekend of February and IVDC held on the first weekend of March (dates to be confirmed). |
