So, we were absolutely blown away by the hordes of new LBSS members who turned up for our dancesport team pairing up session yesterday evening - it is certainly looking like we will have the biggest team in Nottingham's history at this rate!
Team Captains James and Alice, our team coach Jackie and our most senior team members Kev and Em had the mammoth task of putting together all our new team partnerships who will be taking to the dancefloor to represent Nottingham this year. Many had never danced until this week and we were impressed by the sheer enthusiasm shown by some of these dancing newbies. We hope this will translate into some fabulous performances and team spirit - Warwick, Oxford and Cambridge had better watch out!
So well done to everyone who came along, thank you for your enthusiasm and patience whilst we put all of you together and most of all welcome to the team! If you haven't done so already, please join the team Facebook page where we will be posting information on lessons, practices, comps and socials:https://www.facebook.com/groups/699376270078049/
The first team activities, which all our new members should think about attending are as follows
Thursday 24th October: Girls Hair, Make Up and Cake Social - 7:30pm (see Facebook Group for details)
For the girls of the team. Come along for cake and a girly evening where we chat all things glam and tell you how to look strictly fab on the dancefloor. We'll give you hair, make up and clothing tips and our more experienced members will answer any questions about being on team. There will also be cakes and scrummyness.
Saturday 26th October: Guys Beer & Comedy Social - meet 5pm @ Mooch
For the boys - less about appearances (though some casual advice will be given!) and more about male bonding, a chance for the guys to get to know each other and ask any questions in a far more manly style over a beer and some chuckles at Glee Comedy Club.
Sunday 27th October: First Official Team Practice - 2.30pm - 5pm, Great Hall
Everyone welcome! Practice will be important over the coming weeks to get ready for competitions (first one on 10th November) so it's a good idea to get started straight away. Even if you have only learned a little bit so far, there will be help available to practice what you have learned and it will be more of an opportunity to get to know your partner and the rest of the team.
Your Team Captains are always on hand (as well as the senior team members) to help if you have any questions or concerns because at the end of the day team is supposed to be FUN and if you're not enjoying it you need to let us know - though we hope that most of you, if not all of you will get a lot of enjoyment out of being part of the team. DISCLAIMER: we are not responsible if you become totally addicted to dancesport and being on team by the end of this year :D
